Baking and Making

Friday was a SNOW DAY here in town, so Korby and I decided to do some baking. We always make goodies to take to the neighbors around Christmas time. This way we can have some for here, but not so many that I cant breathe when I put my jeans on.:)
I was looking for a good sugar cookie recipe and decided to call my Aunt Pat in California. She emailed me this recipe. She said I could share, so here you go:
From Pat's Kitchen
Sugar Cookies
Mix Together:
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter or margarine
1 egg (beaten)
Add:
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. cream of tarter
1/2 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla
Roll into balls the size of a walnut
Roll in a bowl of decorative sugar of your choice
Flatten with at glass and place on a cookie sheet
Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes.
These turned out wonderful! Nice and light, with a yummy taste. I highly recommend trying it.
Thanks Aunt Pat!
Remember last week when I asked if what I was doing on the loom was really knitting? That was about 9 days ago. Ive been busy and I'm great at procrastinating. Well it was going good, until I noticed a mistake that would take me way to long to do over. So I decided to move on to the brim instructions and finish off a small hat. I figured I could use some practice. I finished the small hat that has a very ugly spot on the backside. Even though it is too small for any heads around here, I had everyone pose for the camera with the hat on. Now that I have tried once I dove right into making another hat. I promise to show you all when its done.
So hats off to my family for trying on my hat that was too small for everyone!
They are troopers!

  3. hehehe, funny pictures! :o)

thank you for sharing your aunt's recipe. I might try them soon...

Well, if you have never crocheted I would advice you to start with a simple pattern scarf that you wouldn't need to increase or decrease, but you would still be practicing the stitches.

Don't give up on your knitting though, once you have everything figured out, you will find so many cool things you can make that you will never want to stop! :o)
