Reading and Knitting

I finished the 3rd book in the Twilight Series last night. I do like those books. I put myself on the waiting list at the library for the 4th one. I was reading this blog Irregular Tammie and it looks like she is finally into them as well! So I thought I would let everyone know that I am also part of team Edward. Seriously, go and check them out. They are worth the time. :)

I did find a local yarn place here in town. Its called The Yarn Shop. I went on a Saturday morning with the idea of looking at yarn. Its a very small place with wonderful amounts of yarn to choose from. There was a table in the middle full of ladies knitting and very friendly employees. I wanted to crawl in a hole or jump out the window. Sounds funny huh? I don't know the 1st thing about knitting! I'm getting better at trying new things, but for the most part I am a creature of habit! I did pick up a class schedule and will probably sign up for a beginning knitting class. I truly want to learn to knit alot of stuff. Scarves, socks, hats, fingerless mittens, just to name a few! I did buy the yarn in this bag. I have not done anything with it yet. Its just too pretty!

This is my husband Kiley. Can you guess why I took his picture, other than the fact that he has a nice smile? I made him that hat! I am very proud of that hat, and it made my day to see him come home from work in it today. I have mentioned several times that he is a huge "sport" when it comes to me making things. During corn bags, he measured and cut material. He tells me when things look funny or good. So anyway, I worked hard on this hat. The weather here is insane in Nebraska. EXTREMELY cold! Kiley told me this was the warmest hat he owns.
I have also finished 1 fingerless mitten. HURRAY! I love this yarn, I bought it at Joann's. I used the pattern that Lisa provided. I'm thinking it should be a little longer. But I was way to excited to finish it. We were recently at a local store here and they had LOTS of these for sale. I asked the employee if they were popular. She replied "They are HOT this year. The smokers and drivers love them." This made my husband and I laugh. I don't smoke and try not to drive, especially when it FREEZING outside! But I sure do think they are cute.

  4. It looks like you are on the right track!
There is a TV show on DIY channel, called "Knitty Gritty" and it's all about knitting, in every episode a new project is taught from beginning to end, so that might be the way to go for you!
I am more into crochet these days, but I absolutely love the way knitted things look.

By the way, my due date is March 19.

    :o)

  8. Oh those books! I had no desire to read them until I read Sandi Henderson's post about them and thought ok I'm going to give them a try. Oh Lord. I spent the entire weekend reading the first two. Lovvvved them. I too have just fell in love with yarn. haha. I taught myself to crochet though, I don't know how to knit. But I did just create a (super simple) crochet pattern for wrist warmers that I'll put up for free on my site sometime soon! xoxoxox oh and hubby looks so cute in his new hat!
