This is a great idea for so many reasons.....Korby can work on her art skills, she gets her very own mail, she can practice addressing envelopes, and so many more reasons!
The one rule that was extremely hard for me was to let her create it herself, without my opinions. THIS WAS HARD FOR ME!! Yes, at times, I'm a bit of a control freak (don't mention this to anyone....OK). And when Korby brought these to me with scribbles all over the place, the 1st thing that came to mind was that there were made by a 4 year old.
I don't expect alot out of my kids when it comes to art. So I very kindly asked Korby what was going on with the cards. "I love colors Mom. There are alot of colors here!"

So with that said we went on to filling out the envelopes. I have to say, this is an excellent way to teach a kid to address envelopes! Can you see her tongue?? This is one of my favorite things about Korby. Whenever she is concentrating really hard...the tongue comes out! My husband is the same way. I do hope that sticks with her for along time to come! :)
BTW....I hate that birdhouse border in our dining room. Its probably 6-8 yrs old. I cant believe I ever liked it!!And yes.....my husband knew things were kind of crazy around here today. So he brought me home margaritas!
i almost signed my son up for that, but even at ten, he prefers to scribble scrabble and i honestly didnt think i'd be able to let him get away with that without any input from me.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to join you in the margaritas!
