My own Painted Wine Bottle Vase

After we were done working on some garage sale stuff tonight, I decided to try the Painted Bottle Vase project from Eco Craft . I found this book the other day at the library and couldn't wait to try out some of the fun stuff. The funniest thing is that Kiley and I just had a conversation the other day about how I had found a project to use up the corkscrews and know I needed something for the bottle itself. When I saw this book sitting there on the shelf it made me laugh, because I had found a project for the wine bottles!

All you need for this project:

Empty bottle- in my case a wine bottle

masking tape or stickers
white paint- The book says to use tempra or interior latex. I'm using tempra.

You can tape off parts of the bottle however you decide to. I kind of went went a funky, all over the place style. The book shows a few other fun ideas using round stickers, like polka dots or around the bottle in lines.

I say use your imagination and of course have fun!

Korby and I worked together and painted the outside of the wine bottle with sponge brushes and the white tempra paint. We used a lot of paint and tried to cover it kind of thick. I like this project because you can include the kiddos. Do you know how made she would have been if I would have said "No Honey, only Mom can paint tonight". I do love painting, its very relaxing!

Here is what it looks like when we were done. It will definitely need a 2nd and maybe 3rd coat of paint to look like the bottle in the book. I'm excited to peel off the masking tape and see what we have. I will keep you posted!
