Gratitude Friday: My Vacation Highlights

Before I tell you about our vacation, I wanted to thank Tammie and Beki for guest blogging while I was gone. Those were fantastic posts!! Thanks to everyone new who visited my blog & to all of the bloggers who are always checking in to see whats going on. I appreciate all of you!

Its Friday again and Im so grateful we got to go on our little vacation. We had a lot of fun on our trip to Harlan County Reservoir. This is our family picture taken outside of the spillway at the Dam. It is gigantic! If you look down at the fence you can see lots of fish swimming in water that is 80 feet deep. This was about 10 minutes from our cabin.

We stayed at Patterson Harbour in the Blue Sky Cabins. The owners of the cabins had this golf cart for rent. Korby was a fast learner at driving. She was a little lead foot. LOL
My Mom wasn't expecting to go so fast at take off. We all took turns driving that cart, it was a highlight of the trip. The kids loved it because they got to drive with an adult. I liked being driven around. :)

Kalen was excited to catch a few catfish. They were so stinky, he was so proud. That is our cabin in the background. Korby was the 1st to walk inside and informed me that this was not what she had been expecting.

The pontoon boat was fun for all, except me. I have this little issue......I prefer staying on land, on ground level. Ok, truth is, I'm deathly afraid of heights and being on water makes me feel sick. But I did go for a ride around some of the lake. Korby was a good driver. Kiley even tuned in classical music to help calm my nerves. It took everything in my body not to hurl. :0)

Relaxing at the beach was my favorite. Kiley and the kids enjoyed the sand. I took my chair out in the middle of that water and parked it there for quite awhile. I loved hanging out at that beach.

When it was all said and done we traveled home and stopped for some lunch. The Cozy Cafe was straight out of the 60's. Can you see those stools in the background? All home cooked food, even homemade potatoes & gravy. They probably thought we were strange taking pictures, in fact the owner came out to ask how everything was and if we needed more gravy. We loved that place! If you are ever in Holdrege, Ne....go there!
