We spend $8.00 per month to have
recycle bank recycling service at our house. This is an OUTSTANDING service. They come to your house once a week and pick up all the recycles in this huge bin. They take everything except glass & children. You don't sort it, just toss it in.
When the truck picks it up, they weigh your bin and you get a certain # of points per pound. You then go to their website, log in and spend your points.
Ive picked up some great coupons to use at the grocery store. We ended up getting free Kraft ranch dressing, toilet paper, etc... I was excited about this service because we were running to the local recycle station 1-2 times per week. About a month ago, I discovered that you could exchange your recycle bank points for coke codes points. This is so exciting to me!

Coke codes take along time to add up. You only get 3 points per lid. We don't drink a lot of soda, so it takes a little time. But, this is another great opportunity to get free stuff! I have 2 free magazine subscriptions from saving up code code points. Can you tell I like FREE stuff or a great deal? Who doesn't, right? Anyway, for 250 recycle bank points, you get 150 coke code points. You can only redeem 2 per month. So it took me a month, but it was worth the wait to save up close to 1100 coke code points. You are probably wondering where Im going with all this talk of points.

I searched and searched the coke code site for the best deal to use all of those points on. My kids BOTH have birthdays next week and just like everyone else in the world $$$ is tight, especially with them starting school next week. So, I found the perfect deal! for 1100 coke code points I got a $25.00 credit to use at the Nike store online. Now I know what you are thinking, Nike is expensive, what is $25.00 going to do for 2 kids??
Again I searched for the best deal possible. At the Nike store online with your 1st purchase you get FREE shipping. I found both of the kids 2 shirts each. These were under the last chance tab. They are great! My grand total at Nike was 35.96 for 4 t-shirts. I spent $10.96 for 4 great shirts! I'm so excited!!
That is why I decided to share this idea with you all. Recycling is great for our Planet & now thanks to Recycle Bank you can get rewarded for it too. According to their
website, my total recycling weighs as much as a baby Orca whale.
Do you have any great ways to save $$ to share with the rest of us? Dont be shy! Leave a comment. Thanks for reading!
Thats awesome deal!! Love the pics my favorite one is the coke reward one hehe :)
ReplyDeletethis is really really cool. we dont have anything like this here. our recycling is picked up by our trash company (in seperate bins) and its all included in the cost of our trash pick up-which is something like $24 a month. which i always thought was nice, but now that i know you're getting free stuff for recycling, im feeling ripped off!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a neat idea. Our recycle gets picked up alongside the garbage...I forget some places it is a separate service. How neat to earn points for recycling!
ReplyDeleteone more thing: wouldnt it be wonderful if they took children too!?!
ReplyDeleteShanae- anytime you need your pic taken w/ coke codes, just let me know :)
ReplyDeleteTammie- I hear from lots of people how the trash/recycle is combined. That is such a strange concept to me. Im working on sneaking my kids in there hahaha JK
Jessica-Im all about getting a good deal. Sometimes it consumes me.
Tammie- Still working on the kids thing ;)
That is so cool! I've never heard of that.
ReplyDeleteBeki- It makes my life much easier! I love not sorting the recycles!
ReplyDeleteAwesome, Kashoan! I forwarded a link to my family and friends - sounds great. BTW love the blog!
ReplyDeleteSasha- Its a great service, if you are into recycling. Im glad you found my blog! :)
ReplyDeleteTo fully take advantage of the mycokerewards program, you need to be sure you use up all the free entries in the sweepstakes. Winning those sweepstakes plus points redemption is the only way to make the program worth anything anymore after they lowered their limits.
