Antique Nebraska Farm Treasures

We recently met up with Kiley's family out at his Grandma's farm house here in Nebraska. His Grandma passed on in Dec 08. Everyone showed up to go through some neat old stuff and take things home.

While there I learned that this farm was Homesteaded in 1869. His family has owned it since then. That fact was fascinating to me.

Everyone enjoyed their time rummaging through the new found treasures, remembering playing with toys and trucks from when they were young. We found some old baby pictures of Kiley that are priceless.

I was excited to find lots of sewing notions. Thread on old wooden spools that cost 15 cents. Those were the days. Most of them are practical colors, with some fun green, blue, and pink, mixed in there.

This watering can sat outside in her flowerbeds, I'm sure it was used until recently. Now it has a home in our flowerbed.

She had a fun, old, collection of costume jewelry that the girls loved going through. We felt like girls playing dress up. Everyone took something home. I loved this set. I'm going to put it away to save for Korby someday.

I honestly don't know what this was used for. I just thought it was really neat. Kiley's Aunt and Uncle kept calling it an old coffee pot. This thing is huge. If they drank that much coffee back in the day, they had to have been wired! What do you think it was for?

This butter churner was stored from years ago and is still in great shape. Could you imagine turning and turning that crank? I bet it tasted so good when it was ready to be served.
We had a great day at the farm.
