My own Big Button Challenge Bag

I recently signed up to be a part of Lisa's Big Button Challenge and to be honest I had a hard time deciding what to create. I am what I would call "newer" to sewing, I get nervous about trying to make new things sometimes. Anyway,Tammie, from one of my favorite blogs made this bag, and I knew right then this is what I wanted to try. She got directions from this tutorial.
Go check out that tutorial for step by step instructions with pictures. Believe me, if I can do it, so can you!

The button that I chose from Lisa was beautiful. She does some fabulous work with polymer clay! I took it with me to the fabric store and was consulting employees on whether or not it matched the fabric. Everyone loved that button. Things I learned from this project:
* How to box corners, I was extremely excited about this because I have NEVER done that before. This was very liberating!
*If you are frustrated, step away from the table and go walk around or something. Its amazing how a step has you frazzled, but you come back and figure it out in no time.
*Drawing a pattern on newspaper is fun, easy, & saves $$

This is an up close picture of the bag. There is a pocket on the inside for my phone and keys. I love the handy button loop, I feel like my things are safely inside. The length of the strap is perfect for me! I love the longer style strap. I definately see more of these bags in different fabrics in my near future!

Everyone participating in Big Button Challenge will have there items on Lisa's blog for you to place your vote on May 8th, 2009. Please pass the word along for me. :)

On a different note, I am feeling MUCH better. In the previous post I talked about how I was not feeling well lately. Thank you for all your kind words and positive thoughts that were sent my way. I am slowly getting back to me. :)

I'm glad you are feeling better as well. It stinks when you aren't your same-old-self and feel under the weather.
