Polished Paint Stone Jewelry

Today's blog post is brought to you by my awesome husband, Kiley. We have been married for almost 15 years. He makes me smile every day. I hope you enjoy this post.

How did this happen? How did I end up doing a blog post here?

I don’t blog, I do many things but blog isn't one of them.

But here I sit trying to put words from my scrambled thoughts into a readable post.

Lucky for me I do have a reason today to be here and look forward to sharing it.

I have worked at a Collision Repair shop for many years now and do find a little free time at work, which led me to this process which makes some of the coolest things ever. What I have made is 100% original and totally unique, never the same. I start out in the paint shop, at a paint stand, which over a lot of weeks of use collects a coat of paint from each job that build up very nice. I carefully chip away at the stand trying to get bigger chunks off. From there the work begins. The chunks I start with are rough, I use a course sandpaper to begin to take a shape. This is dirty, dusty, and hard on the hands. Once the general shape has been made, it’s a long process of sanding, by hand, using seven different types of sandpaper, and finally a high speed polisher to achieve the end result. This piece here in the picture below, will be a pendant when I finish sanding. It’s over half way done.

Taking about two hours of hand sanding on each individual piece, the end result is amazing! So many layers of very high quality auto paint, sanded down and polished to a glossy shine (think brand new car shiny)

In the end these are these perfect, brilliant, and colorful rings and pendants. Take a look at the finished pieces, tell me what you think of them.

Finally I would like to thank Kashoan for giving me this chance to share what I have been up to. She is truly my best friend, and I am such a lucky guy to have her in my life :)

These rings & pendants are currently available in my Etsy Shop.
